The yearly Sonar-festival in Spain is known worldwide for being one of the biggest celebrations of electronic music. This year it took place about 2 weeks ago, and I am still trying to recover.

Personally the highlight was the Raum Playa outdoor party, where my friend Axel Bartsch (of Kompakt, and Sportclub) delivered a fabulous set. The line-up included Gabriel Ananda, Dapayk, Jay Haze, Ryan Crosson, Matt John and 3 Channels, among others. Undoubtedly the hottest of any off-Sonar party! This night I accidentally ended up next to Matthew Jonson, and of course I couldn´t help but look in that "Oh my god I´m standing next to a superstar"-kind of way. I remember his gig here in Stockholm not long ago with pure pleasure, the club was really on fire. Another highlight was the B-Pitch Beach Party, where I danced next to the master of it all, Ellen Allien. She was a generous sweetie, handing out B-Pitch bags to the audience, while her manager tried to fight off all too “friendly” fans.

Next day I was having morning coffee with Swedish techno-highlight The Field, and somehow Miss Kittin came to the same coffeeshop and sat down next to us, wearing a dress from Hennes&Mauritz, what we in Sweden consider to be the main store for people short on cash. Paired with a black bag with the print: Miss Kittin. Couldn´t help but smile at the outfit - did she think people wouldn´t recognise her without the bag? Cute.

On Sunday Kompakt had a nice beach party. Michael Mayer worked the players from early on during the day, and later turned them over to Superpitcher and Tobias Thomas who delivered a steaming hot set. Michael seemed extremely relaxed, considering his girlfriend was due to deliver a baby at any time… The vibe was amazing, and I met up with Swedish electo-artist Dibaba, who has a release-party for a new ep next week, Wednesday 11/7, at trendy F12 in Stockholm.

I searched around to find live-sets for you guys from Sonar, but whatever I could find was in really crappy audio quality so I decided to skip it and instead leave you with a live recording from The Field. He performed at Kompakts labelnight at Nitsa during Sonar, but this is an earlier recording from one of my favourite clubs – Berghain.

The Field is playing again this Thursday 5/7 in Stockholm, at Neu Live. Myself and Dandy Digital are warming up with some smooth soft techno. Hope to see you there!
