24:HOURS

Stockholm based club promoters and providers of great music.

We still like to support up and coming artists here at twentyfourhours and today we take a look at Steve Kelly aka SK123, a UK based artist who has been creating music since 2000. Influenced by the output of classic UK labels such as Ninjatune, Rephlex and Warp, he has created a sizable back catalog of unreleased albums and EP's over the years (many of them now available free from last.fm) but 2008 sees him finally getting his first official release. The new album Skizm, which was released last month by independent UK record label Fruit Soup, is a mixture of minimal, techno, dub, glitch and ambient electronic elements. There isn't much here for the dancefloor, although some of the more adventurous DJ's among you could slip tracks like Doppler Shift, Dry Season or Massive Ambient Face into one of your deeper sets, but the album is perfect late night home listening material and is great for escaping reality with and losing yourself in the twisted synthesized soundscapes.

I really admire Fruit Soup for their fresh approach to releasing music and this is a great debut LP for both them and SK123. You can stream the full album at last.fm and it is available to purchase in MP3 and FLAC format from the Fruit Soup homepage as well as a range of other online music outlets.
