A favorite label of ours is the excellent New York based Wurst Edits imprint operated by our friend Roy Dank aka My Cousin Roy. Previously there´s been stuff from Roy himself, Runaway & Lee Douglas (as Douglas sound) on Wurst and this time the luck has come to DJ, producer and club promoter extraordinaire Eamon Harkin (NYC/Berlin) who delivers two dirty house bombs guaranteed to make any dancefloor sweat.

Vintage sounding stuff with some classic samplings that we´re definitely feeling here in the frozen north, drop these at any party and you´ll have the crowd go crazy in no time. Highly Recommended. Be sure to pay Eamons´s blog a visit for regular updates on parties and such.

The release of the Kelpe album Ex-aquarium on DC Recordings back in February 2008 was met with a swathe of critical acclaim and was followed by a series of incendiary live shows, all of which have unquestionably inspired the wondrous cast of artists and producers who remix various tracks from the album for this new release Extraquarium.

Synth fetishists Zombie Zombie take time out from their on-going live rampage to deliver their first ever remix, a complete remake of Bread Machine Bred into a brooding and endlessly building epic. Fulgeance brings the sub bass to Stop Parching Yourself, creating a booty-fied, dancefloor romper that slips and slides like a frogman in the shallows.

Shipwreck Glue gets strung out and dosed up on Californian sunshine courtesy of Wes/Coats, balearic disco energy reminiscent of Studio or Mountain Of One washing over the ping pong stoccatos of the Kelpe original. Beat mongerer Architeq takes on the same track, adding extra crunch and swagger to this manphibian anthem.

Kelpe himself remakes Shipwreck Glue and Whirlw ound, the latter rolling and swelling with added percussive energy, the former moving into loftier tempos from the original to make a dance floor bomb of frenzied arrhythmia. The Boats bring a mellow side to proceedings, taking the lambent tones of Colours Don't Leak and swaddling them in delicate cello chords and an ebbing 303.

Lastly DC label mates The Oscillation divert their gaze away from the cosmos and towards the deep, adding extra weights to the already heavy Cut It Upwards and taking it to deeper depths!

The 12" version of this release features the Zombie Zombie, Wes Coats, Fulgeance and Kelpe Extraversion of Shipwreck Glue. The rest are available as download only. However for this release the label is trying out something rather special. If you buy the 12" of Extraquarium you will receive a voucher entitling you to download all eight tracks! So for those of you thinking of buying the download you should buy the vinyl since its the same price and you will effectively get a free 12", which even if you don't have record player is a lovely piece of artwork which you can put on your wall or in your fish tank. Go here for details.

DC Recordings were kind enough to send us a smashing Kelpe DJ-mix that has not been available for download earlier, and since we love you so much we´ll of course share it with you. Be sure to check the new videos for two classic Kelpe tracks that was done by film archive remixer BossQuito too, quite mindblowing stuff.

Kelpe will also be kicking off the first of a series of bi-monthly DC Recordings nights this Saturday with a Live performance with drummer Chris Walmsley at The Lexington, Angel, London. The night will also feature a special DJ set from new DC signing Arcadion, plus DJ support from the DC usual: Depth Charge, Richard Sen and James Dyer. It costs only £8 and will rage all night. You can buy £7 advance tickets here.
